Welcome to the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. The Department of Paediatrics and Child Health provides services to children in KwaZulu-Natal Province as well as some tertiary services to children in the Eastern Cape Province.
The Department has a large training platform for both undergraduate and postgraduate students which includes:

  • eThekwini (Durban complex hospitals)
  • Pietermaritzburg complex hospitals
  • Queen Nandi Hospital
  • Newcastle Hospital
  • Stanger Hospital

We also offer world class sub-specialist training in a number of specialisations i.e. critical care, pulmonology, cardiology, neurology, neurodevelopment, neonatology, infectious diseases, nephrology, haematology and rheumatology. Our training program also has an African footprint with the flagship African Paediatric Fellowship Program UKZN which offers training for both South African and African graduates in general paediatrics and various sub-specialties.
