BIOSKETCH
Dr Lawrence Mubaiwa is a Paediatric Neurologist, Lecturer, undergraduate academic coordinator and Head of the Division of Paediatric Neurology & Child Development at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and Inkosi Albert Luthuli Hospital since 2000. He holds an MBChB (University of Zimbabwe), FCPaed (SA) and MA in Child Development (Tufts University, Boston, USA). He was a Fogarty (NIH) International MCH Fellow at New England Medical Center – Tufts University, Department Paediatric Neurology & Child Development Boston, USA. He the Programme Director for the African Paediatric Fellow Programme – UKZN which is focused on training paediatric specialists and sub-specialist from the African continent He is founding member of the Action in Autism Early Learning and Intervention Centre in Durban. He is an advocate for children with special needs. Dr Mubaiwa has a special interest in the management of children with neuro-behavioural disorders, epilepsy and rare neurometabolic disorders.
